Accomplishments
With two little ones—ages two and four—every day feels like a major accomplishment! I’m incredibly grateful for my amazing husband, who meets the chaos of parenting with patience and humor. The transition to being a working mom has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my life. I’m thankful every day for the opportunity to contribute to a fantastic team at Mid-States while also supporting my family.
Off the Clock
I have 12 nieces and nephews, so most of my time off the clock is joyfully spent with family. I’ve recently entered my “crafty mom era” and love putting together fun little projects for school events and cousin get-togethers. At home, I’m kept company by our sweet golden retriever, Orla, who’s always up for a cuddle or a never-ending game of fetch.
Secret Life
I’m an active member of The City of Rockford Pipe Band. You can catch us at local parades and events, sharing the tradition of Scottish Highland Bagpipes with our community.
AMANDA STEWART
Talent Acquisition and Community Engagement Specialist
Accomplishments
I am so proud of my three children and who they have become. They each have their own passions and interests and are such kind, thoughtful human beings. They have done an excellent job of navigating this crazy world we live in, and I am excited to see the adventure that they will take me on as I watch them grow up and explore the different phases of their life.
Extracurricular
I really enjoy crafting/building all things. Depending on the weather will determine the type of thing I would be working on. I will not shy away from picking up a good book and LOVE watching the Kansas City Chiefs during football season.
Off the Clock
My two youngest children are baseball and softball players so often you will find me at a field in my free time. I really enjoy being outside. I look forward to the day that I can take an impromptu nap on the back deck while lounging under the sun.
JENA JACKSON
Human Resources Specialist
Accomplishments
As I approach my fourth year with Mid-States in August 2026, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow within the HR department and support our employees in meaningful ways. From HR administration and employee support to workers’ compensation coordination and leading our Involvement Committee, I take pride in being a reliable resource for our team. I’m thankful to be part of a company that values its people, teamwork, and continuous improvement, while allowing me to continue growing both personally and professionally. I love my team!
Off the Clock
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our son, whom we welcomed in May 2026. I’m passionate about cars and have been involved in the automotive community for years. I have a huge love for racing and enjoy attending car shows and automotive events whenever I can. I also love driving my Ford Focus ST—it’s too much fun not to. When I’m not around cars, you can usually find me supporting my husband, who is the lead guitar player in a heavy metal band. I enjoy staying busy and making the most of my time with family, friends, and the hobbies I love.
Secret Life
One of my biggest passions is racing. In 2013, I was featured on ESPN for my go-kart racing at Sugar Grove Raceway, the same track where Danica Patrick began her racing career. In 2014, I transitioned to dirt oval racing and continued competing through 2016.
Today, my purple #99 Mustang-themed go-kart, modeled after racing legend Dick Trickle and proudly displaying my maiden name (Jena Peschang), is on display at Historic Auto Attractions in Roscoe, Illinois. I hope to return to the track someday, as racing will always hold a special place in my life.
MALLORY COMBS
Safety and Human Resources Representative
Accomplishments
At Mid-States, I’ve had the opportunity to support backend HR processes at all four locations. I’ve also gained expertise in the benefits and compliance space and enjoy tackling challenges and finding strategic solutions in those areas.
Before joining Mid-States full-time, I completed five HR internships, including one in Dallas, TX, in a corporate HR setting. Packing up and moving to the “Big D” for three months at 20-years-old will always be one of my coolest career accomplishments.
Extracurricular
I enjoy volunteering at Park City Church in Machesney Park, IL alongside my incredible church community. I am also the Professional Development Chair for the Rising Professionals of Beloit!
Off the Clock
Off the clock, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, Quintin, and our two kitties, Alice and Newt. My happy place is drinking coffee and doing a devotional in our little home together! I also love spending time with my siblings and their spouses; we have a fun little group we call our “Circle of 8!”
Secret Life
I have wasted 51 days of my life playing Dead by Daylight since I installed it in 2020. I am a die-hard survivor main.
TRACY MILLER
Safety Manager
Accomplishments
I am very proud of the team for maintaining our SHARP certification through OSHA for the last eight years. We are one team. We all work together and look out for each other to ensure we all go home safely every day!
Extracurricular
I volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the YWCA.
Off the Clock
I enjoy relaxing in my backyard, taking my dogs for a run, and spending time with my family and friends. I love seeing my three grandkids and all of the great-nieces and nephews.
JACK MACDOUGALL
Safety Specialist
Accomplishments
I have been with Mid-States for about a year and a half now. Started as an intern and eventually was hired full time. I wrote and trained on our confined space rescue procedure which was a big learning experience for me as I have not worked on a project that required so many outside professionals to consult on.
Extracurricular
I attend the career fairs at UW-Whitewater to help find potential intern candidates.
Off the Clock
Off the clock you can find me at a golf course, at a brewery, or hanging with family and friends. My teams are the Chicago Blackhawks, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Milwaukee Bucks.
