BRIAN MATTHYS
Production Supervisor
Accomplishments
This year will be 25 years at Mid-States. I began in production, then moved into quality control as a foreman and later as a supervisor, before transitioning to my current role as Production Supervisor in Wet Cast. I’m proud of the hundreds of projects I’ve been a part of, especially the local ones.
Extracurricular
I usually pass the time in the winter playing fantasy football, darts, or going to the YMCA to play racquetball.
Off the Clock
I love golf (probably play too much) and spending time with my family. I also enjoy watching mystery-type shows like Dateline NBC, among others.
Secret Life
I went to the Masters golf tournament in 2017. Standing around the first tee box, the scorecard for Justin Thomas (one of my favorite players) was on the ground next to me. I picked it up and a couple minutes later his caddie was there looking. I gave it to him, he said thanks, unfortunately, I didn’t get close to Justin.
EFRAIN MENDIOLA
Production Supervisor
Accomplishments
I have been with Mid-States for more than 25 years. I have been part of many changes and have watched as the company grew into what it is today. I am proud to have my son Efrain III working here with me.
Extracurricular
I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan—and any team that plays against the Packers!
JOSH KUPKOWSKI
Production Supervisor
TRAVIS BASS
Architectural Supervisor
Accomplishments
I’ve been with Mid-States for 17 years. I started out working on wall panels for about a year, then became foreman of the stripping crew, then moved to foreman of our architectural area. After about seven years of doing that, I became the lead foreman of Wet Cast, which led me into my role now as the architectural supervisor.
Extracurricular
I’m a small group leader at our church, helping kids learn about Jesus.
Off the Clock
I enjoy spending time with my wife and our three children. Also like to work with wood, building things for the house.
MIKE BURKE
Senior Production Scheduler
Accomplishments
Being part of the production and field team for the last 12 years. I have had a part in almost every project that we have poured during that time. Getting to work on a large variety of projects and assist with production.
Off the Clock
Married to my amazing wife for 12 years. Father to my daughter and a couple of dogs. I spend a lot of time doing home projects and have done a ton of work at our house. I enjoy being outside with the family and fishing when I can.
TOM DAVIES
Manufacturing and Construction Administrator
Accomplishments
I am most proud to have been part of the road crew. I point out buildings that I was part of constructing to my family and friends anytime the opportunity presents itself.
BRONSON WAHL
Plant Manager - Browntown
Accomplishments
My biggest accomplishment is my family. My wife of 20 years and I have raised two smart, talented daughters. We just moved our oldest to UW-Madison to begin her freshman year and our youngest is a high school sophomore who loves volleyball. Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time and energy doing little things to create excitement in their lives, like indulging a 12-year-old’s interest in Paris by building a two-story Eiffel Tower out of rebar to decorate our yard, or creating a ball-holding device to practice volleyball hitting.
Off the Clock
I spend my time outside of working doing DIY projects on my house, playing backyard volleyball with my daughter and her friends, going to my kids’ games and competitions, or playing fetch with my dog while sitting on my precast deck or patio (two of the aforementioned DIY projects) with a Corona.
Secret Life
A buddy and I once drove overnight from Wisconsin to New York City to pick up a wrecked Toyota Supra that we bought off eBay. Turns out, immediately after 9/11 you were not allowed to drive trailers through the Lincoln Tunnel. They will stop you. They will make you turn around. You will stop all traffic while trying to U-turn/back up said trailer.
NICOLE “NIK” WILD
Production Coordinator - Browntown
Accomplishments
Since joining Mid-States, I have focused on improving communication, tracking, and workflow visibility across multiple departments. I enjoy finding opportunities to streamline processes and create systems that help teams work more efficiently. One of my favorite accomplishments has been developing tracking and reporting tools that connect production, QC, welding, batching, and shipping into a single, easy-to-use workflow, helping provide real-time information to the people who need it most.
Extracurricular
If there’s a project that needs organizing, planning, improving, or rescuing, I usually find my way into it. I enjoy learning new technology, creating solutions to everyday challenges, and helping turn big ideas into reality. I like being part of projects that leave things better than I found them.
Off the Clock
When I’m not at Mid-States, you’ll usually find me spending time with my two boys, riding my Harley, working on creative projects, or enjoying time with my family on the farm. I love photography, design, technology, and finding ways to combine creativity with problem-solving. Whether it’s building something in Excel, creating artwork, or planning the next family project, I enjoy bringing ideas to life.
Secret Life
Behind the spreadsheets and production schedules, I’m a storyteller at heart. I have a passion for preserving family history, traditions, and memories, often taking on projects that bring generations together and celebrate the people who helped shape our lives. While most people know me for keeping things organized, my favorite projects are the ones that create something meaningful that will last long after the work is finished.
