Building Opportunity

Mid-States Concrete Industries is committed to providing opportunities for students in our community to learn, develop skills, and explore careers in manufacturing.

Learn more about all of our programs below. Interested in any of the programming? Contact Amanda Stewart, Talent Acquisition and Community Engagement Specialist.

CRAFTSMAN WITH CHARACTER

Craftsman with Character is a course that students take for high school credit that provides an opportunity for students to spend time with local businesses in manufacturing and construction. Each week during the semester-long course, students will be shadowing with our local business partners.

CAREERTEK HANDS-ON AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Mid-States Concrete Industries has established an annual partnership with Hendricks CareerTek to provide a six-week program for students in grades six-nine. The program focuses on exploration and skill growth in the world of construction.

The program offers students an opportunity to review piece drawings, mark out formwork, learn about quality control procedures, build formwork, pour concrete, and strip the pieces. Kids are encouraged to use small power tools, layout dimensions using a tape measure, and have conversations about precast manufacturing with our team of professionals assisting them on their project.

JOB SHADOW PROGRAM

Mid-States Concrete Industries partners with local community high schools and post-secondary schools to provide opportunities for students to explore potential careers in manufacturing.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Mid-States Concrete Industries provides paid internship pathways for high school and college students to gain real-world experience in their career path of interest.

SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT

Representatives from Mid-States Concrete Industries are available for various school events supporting students and teachers in career exploration. We are also happy to open our Plant in South Beloit for student tours and presentations.

If you are interested in having Mid-States Concrete Industries at your school’s career exploration event, or scheduling a group visit to our manufacturing plant, please contact Amanda Stewart, Talent Acquisition and Community Engagement Specialist.
