Accomplishments
My greatest blessing was marrying my amazing wife. Over 28 years later I’m so grateful she said yes. We have two amazing daughters and we are having a blast cheering on their success.
At Mid-States I get to work with some of the most incredibly talented people and together we build some great buildings where people live, work, learn, and play. Every project has its own story, but the most special ones to me are because of the people we build them for and with. Getting to work with our customers to help them accomplish their project goals is very rewarding. Knowing they trust us with the projects that are so important to them is something we do not take lightly.
Starting my career at Mid-States on our installation crew, one of the biggest accomplishments is that Jaron and I worked together and did not kill each other.
Extracurricular
My wife and I enjoy leading a small group from our church. Grateful that I have been able to help teach a leadership course at Mid-States. One of my favorite verses is Joshua 1:9. Still living in 2016, man I wish my Cubs were good again.
Off the Clock
Favorite place in the world is sitting on the back deck with my wife and a good whiskey with some music in the background. Greatest movie franchise: Rocky (this is a fact not open for debate). Remember The Titans is up there, too. One of the best ways to spend an early morning: on a paddle board on Lake Geneva when the water is like glass. We usually take our dog which ends with us falling off the boards. A coffee and a good book is a close second. We also have a wood burning sauna (pronounced SOW-na) and enjoy it a few times a week.
Secret Life
Harrison Ford went to my grandfather’s house in Upper Michigan for an authentic Finnish sauna. That’s right, Han Solo/Indiana Jones.

Helping my wife raise two great children. Graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Architecture way back in 1995. Been at Mid-States since 1997. Work with architects, general contractors, and developers assisting in the design and construction of buildings.
Off the Clock
Enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am a BIG Badger fan and have two season tickets to the football games. Favorite movie is Step Brothers. Love country music. Favorite NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys, aka America's Team.
COLIN JONES

Accomplishments
There are quite a few projects that I am proud of being a part of at Mid-States: Humbucker, Beloit Schools, and Maine West are just a few. After being in the field for 12 years, I moved into the office and I have found being part of the Preconstruction Team a new and exciting challenge.
Off the Clock
My newest hobby is spending time with my wife Jessica, my son Cole and my daughter Lorelei. I enjoy shooting competitive archery when I have the time. I also enjoy golf, woodworking, fishing in the Florida Keys, hunting out west, and coaching Cole’s baseball team.
Secret Life
I’ve jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, can’t stand ketchup or gum, and am one of the biggest Metallica fans you will ever meet.

Fishing, bowhunting, grilling, cocktails, watching my children complete in their sporting events. I also enjoy having family movie nights.

I have a fragrance (cologne) collection consisting of over 300 bottles. I have 2 curio cabinets full of both niche and designer fragrances.
MARK SALLMANN

Accomplishments
My wife and I have been married for thirty years now and have two daughters we are very proud of. Just ask me and I will tell you all about them. It has been a thrill watching them grow over these years. They are now living the adult life in the city of Chicago and successful in their careers.
Extracurricular
I enjoy travelling and escaping reality every now and then by reading a good book. I would say one of my happy places would be hiking in the mountains, near a stream or somewhere in a canyon. One of my bucket lists for travel is to visit and hike as many of our country’s national parks as possible. So far I have been to around twenty of them so I still have quite a few on that list. I am a diehard Cubs fan and was very happy when one of my wish list items was checked off by the Cubbies winning the World Series. I also root for the rest of the Chicago teams and of course keep tabs on my Colorado Buffaloes.
Secret Life
My brush with fame came quite a few years back when we were at a high school reunion at what was then Walter Payton’s Roundhouse in Aurora, IL. We decided to take a break from the festivities and check out the place and while walking by the front entrance we stopped and noticed off to the side none other than Walter Payton talking to one of his employees. He noticed us standing there looking at him and he walked over to us and said hello and talked with us for a short while. It was amazing how approachable and friendly he was, being arguably the best running back in NFL history.

Accomplishments
I have been at Mid-States for 22 years and been a part of numerous successful projects. I have been on the Preconstruction team for 8 years. I played college baseball for 2 years and won 2 NJCAA National Championships. I pitched the national championship game my freshman year and was MATC 1996 Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
Extracurricular
I love beer which is why my other career is at Rock County Brewing Company in Janesville as a beer server. I golf in a golf league at Glen Erin. We have 8 guys from Mid-States in our league.
Off the Clock
I enjoy golfing and playing baseball. I also love beer, hence why I work at a brewery. I love to cook and use my two smokers.
Secret Life
I am lucky to be on Earth as my mom is from Wisconsin and my dad is from England. She was on her senior trip to Florida and he was in the British Royal Navy and was docked in Florida. That is where they met. That chance encounter is why I am so exceptional.
TARA LOOMIS, PE
Senior Structural Engineer
Accomplishments
I have been a structural engineer for 23 years. I have always had a passion for construction and enjoy seeing projects come to life. I have been with Mid-States for over 3 years and in this time, I have had the opportunity to work with various architects and engineers in the early stages of design to ensure the most economical precast layout. My previous EOR experience has been beneficial in aiding with early on schematic designs. I strive to provide the most economical precast layout for our customers.
Extracurricular
With four kids, I find most my extracurricular time is spent at sporting events. Whether it is baseball, softball, football, or basketball games, it seems we are always cheering for one of them. I love to watch them play.
Off the Clock
I love being a mom and enjoy spending time with my family. I love to travel, read, and relax in the backyard with the kids while sitting around the firepit.

I passed my Master Plumbers test without ever plumbing anything in my life.

Always wanted to open a group home for kids that were well taken care of and loved to the point they would never need to be adopted if they didn’t want to be. To raise them all (of course with help) as if they were your own.

My greatest accomplishment in life is my son. It is truly wonderful to watch him grow and learn in this world and he makes me laugh every single day.
Off the Clock
I like to take my son on adventures and spend time with family and friends. I also love to read. I started keeping a list of books read in 2019. The most I’ve read in one year was 66 books in 2022. My best reads of 2023 so far have been The Measure by Nikki Erlick and The Comeback by Ella Berman.
Secret Life
I have an unhealthy obsession with MTV’s The Challenge and CBS’s Big Brother. All of my dreams would come true if Nsync reunited. My son and I frequently dance to Billy Joel in our kitchen.
